Calhoun County is a county located in the U.S. state of Florida. Its county seat is Blountstown. Calhoun County was created in 1838. It was named for John C. Calhoun, member of the United States Senate from South Carolina. As in Florida Panhandle, a majority of County's residents attached to Southern culture and lifestyle. Calhoun County has a total area of approximately 574 square miles of which 99% is land and 1% water.
